The "Ruckreational"

Leprechaun 319

I am proud to announce the new addition to The Ruck Shack fleet. This 2021 Coachmen Leprechaun 319MB is officially mine off the lot! I am calling this RV the "Ruckreational Vehicle." It is a 32' Class C Motor home with 15k miles (as of 7/24) all of the bells and whistles. This motorhome did NOT come with a solar system. In time I plan to build a solar powered charging system with lithium batteries so there is always power.

What's inside?

  • 350hp 7.3L V8 Engine
  • 55GAL Gas Tank
  • 68LBS Liquefied Petroleum Tank

Fully Home Assisted RV w/ Automations

With the help of Turbo Techie Systems, a custom wiring harness was made to connect the existing RV control board to an ESP32 relay board. This allows for each component on my RV control board (water pump, water heaters, generator and slide functions) to be controlled through WiFi and Home Assistant. You can see the impressive work in the images below. What you can not see in the picture is that Turbo Techie made this very easy for me to install. He color coded each wire on the new relay board to match the existing RV wire colors. Additionally he labeled each wire grouping as well as the connecting ports for the power. Red to red, yellow to yellow, colors to colors and the install was complete. Before I knew it I was saying "Luna, turn on my gas water heater." Yeah, that was nice to do from bed when I woke up. After a day or two I took things even further. Now I have my first automation set up to Turn On my Gas Water Heater at 0700. When this automation activates, I have it set to trigger my LED Strips to turn Red to remind me it is on. At 0730 the second automation kicks in, telling the Gas Water Heater to Turn Off, and my lights to resume their previous setting.

Another automation I have set includes Auto Starting the Generator when the Lithium batteries drop below 20% charge. This is particularly useful automation to ensure
